Christopher Dietrich, MD

Christopher Dietrich, MD, is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and has special interests in pain medicine, sports medicine, and interventional pain procedures.

Dr. Dietrich is a Huron, South Dakota native. He is a graduate of The University of South Dakota School of Medicine. He completed his residency and specialty training at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. While at Mayo, Dr. Dietrich was elected chief resident. He is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, and Sports Medicine. 

In addition to working at The Rehab Doctors, Dr. Dietrich is also the director of the Rapid City Concussion Project, a visiting physician at the United States Olympic Training Center, a Titleist Performance Institute Level 3 Certified Evaluator, and a team physician for the United States Ski Team. He has served as the 137th President of the South Dakota State Medical Association, vice president of the Black Hills Medical Society, and co-chair of the ethics committee at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was awarded the PASSOR Excellence in Research Award in 2004, the Mayo PM&R Jayanthi Charitable Foundation Outstanding Research Award in 2005, the Earl Elkins Mayo PM&R Resident Award in 2005, the South Dakota State Medical Association’s Outstanding Young Physician Award in 2009, and the Community Service Award in 2011.

Alongside his committee work, Dr. Dietrich holds several academic appointments, including clinical assistant professor positions at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He also served as the chief resident at the Mayo Clinic PM&R from 2004-2005.

Dr. Dietrich and his wife Angie have three children. In his spare time, Dr. Dietrich is active in numerous community activities. He is the president of the Rushmore Hockey Association, the safety director of Canyon Lake Little League, a member of the planning committee for the Tee It Up for Cancer Tournament, and a board member at St. Thomas Moore School and the Rush Foundation. He is also a youth coach for the Rushmore Hockey Association, Canyon Lake Little League, Team SD Hockey, RCYSL soccer, Black Hills Rapids Soccer, and Black Hills Thunder Baseball.
